Spiritual Lineage - An unbroken stream of realised masters guiding humanity toward liberation

An unbroken stream of realised masters guiding humanity toward liberation.

India is the sacred land where timeless spiritual lineages have flowed uninterrupted for thousands of years. These lineages were preserved not through books alone, but through realised beings who lived lives of intense meditation, penance, renunciation, and divine discipline.

The spiritual lineage of Swami Shivanand Dadaji is one such living stream. Rooted in the Advaita Vedanta tradition of Shree Adi Shankaracharya and flowing through the divine presence of Shree Dhuniwale Dadaji, this lineage carries the sole purpose of guiding humanity toward its ultimate goal: liberation from the cycle of birth and death.

What follows is the sacred journey of this lineage, preserved through realised masters across centuries.

Adi Shankaracharya: The Source of Advaita

In the 8th century CE, Shree Adi Shankaracharya emerged as one of the greatest spiritual reformers in Indian history. A disciple of Shree Govinda Bhagwatpada, he systematised the philosophy of Advaita Vedanta, teaching the oneness of the individual soul and the Supreme Reality.

To preserve this wisdom, Adi Shankaracharya established the Dashnami Sampradaya and founded four major monasteries:

  • Dwarka (West)
  • Jagannath Puri (East)
  • Sringeri (South)
  • Badrikashram (North)

Each Matha was entrusted to a chief disciple, ensuring the continuity of Advaita Vedanta through disciplined monastic traditions.

Totakacharya and the Badrikashram Tradition

One of Adi Shankaracharya’s foremost disciples, Shree Totakacharya, was appointed head of the Badrikashram Matha. A master of devotion and scholarship, he composed the revered Totakashtakam in praise of his Guru.

From Badrikashram arose many ascetics devoted to penance and realisation, among whom Shree Acharya Kamal Bharti played a defining role.

Acharya Kamal Bharti and the Narmada Parikrama

Acharya Kamal Bharti revived the ancient spiritual tradition of Narmada Parikrama, the sacred circumambulation of River Narmada. Living his entire life on the river’s banks, he preached the deep spiritual significance of this practice and trained disciples in ascetic discipline and surrender.

One of his most luminous disciples was Shree Gaurishankar Maharaj.

A Sage of the Narmada

Shree Gaurishankar Maharaj lived during the mid-19th century as a great ascetic of the Narmada tradition. Performing severe penances within the waters of the river, he attained extraordinary spiritual powers and lived solely by divine grace. Even British officials of the time recognised his mystical abilities.

During one deep meditation in the Narmada, he witnessed a miraculous sight: a naked child, about six or seven years old, walking upon the river’s surface. The child spoke nothing. Guided by divine intuition, Gaurishankar Maharaj accepted him as his disciple and named him Madhav.

Later, Goddess Narmada herself revealed that the child was an incarnation of the Supreme Lord.

The Bearer of the Sacred Fire

The child Madhav was the supreme personality of Godhead and later known as Shree Dhuniwale Dadaji, he was one of the most extraordinary spiritual beings of modern India. Living in complete renunciation and the Digambar (Sky-clad) state, Dadaji remained absorbed beside the sacred fire known as the Dhuni, from which he derived his name.

Through divine discipline, fierce compassion, and boundless grace, he performed countless miracles. He revived the dead, healed the suffering, transformed lives with a word or glance, and shattered the limits of material science through direct spiritual power.

He initiated numerous realised saints who carried his grace across India. Shree Dhuniwale Dadaji attained Mahasamadhi in 1930 at Khandwa, which remains a powerful centre of faith and spiritual legacy.

After Dadaji’s Mahasamadhi, Shree Harihar Bhole Bhagwan, his most beloved disciple, was crowned as his spiritual successor. He carried the responsibility of preserving the sanctity and discipline of Khandwa temple until 1942.

His life was marked by humility, devotion, and complete surrender to his Guru. He left his physical body at Prayagraj and was laid to rest near Shree Dhuniwale Dadaji’s samadhi, further establishing Khandwa as a sacred spiritual centre.

The Living Master of the Lineage

Initiated by Shree Siddhanand Maharaj in 1984, Swami Shivanand Dadaji represents the living presence of this ancient lineage. Though a householder, he remained inwardly detached and devoted himself to relentless meditation, chanting, and yadnya.

In 1999, he undertook an extraordinary penance, sitting continuously for 18 months beside the sacred Dhuni. Despite severe burn injuries, he never broke his meditation. Through discipline and self restraint, he attained complete self-realisation and mastery over higher spiritual dimensions.

Today, he preaches direct experiential methods of:

  • Third Eye Awakening
  • Kundalini Activation
  • Chakra Activation
  • Astral Projection
  • Higher-dimensional perception

With more than 30 meditation centres across India, and a primary centre at Pimpalner, Dhule district, Maharashtra, thousands of seekers continue to experience deep spiritual transformation through his grace.
